Federer looks to continue quest to regain Wimbledon crown.

roger-federerRoger Federer will look to further his quest to regain his Wimbledon crown by beating Guillermo Garcia-Lopez later today in the second round. Federer was hardly troubled during his first round match and will probably be looking to go up another gear in today’s encounter.

He would do well to put in a swift anf empahtic performance as he is due onto centre court for the second match today. This means that he will probably be playing during the hottest part of the day and it could take a lot out of him if his Spanish opponent rises to the occasion and makes the match a lot more difficult than everyone probably expects.

We are all hoping to be treated to a master class of Federer play but the Swiss maestro should have a clear and efficient game plan in mind as he tries to win his 15th grand slam event. If he does this then he will become the most decorated player of all time and can at last be truly considered as the greatest player to have ever picked up a tennis racket.

These are all of the types of accolaide that Guillermo Garcia-Lopez will have to try and over come as he looks to create the biggest upset of the competition so far. It will be hard for him and he will need Federer to have an incredibly bad day at the office if he is to take any chance of progressing to the next round.

All of the big seeds have now played and they all look to be in fairly good form, apart from a scrappy performance from British hopeful, Andy Murray. Therefore Federer will need to maintain the level of consistency that he was able to show during his first round match against Lu from Chinese Taipei.

The Swissman now has all of the experience to go with his many victories in the sport and he will know precisely what is required in order to get through this match as he would have been in the same situation on countless times before.

Little did we expect that the small figure of Federer strolling out with his long hair in a pony tail those many years ago, would turn out to be one of the greatest players that the sport has ever produced. He does not seem to have forgotten these days and this is what helps him win so many admirers for his modesty when many would not blame him in the slightest if he was to display a few egotistic tendencies.

It would take a very brave and probably slightly mad individual to go and have a bet against Federer today and because he looks so comfortable with his own game and the fact that he is still obviously buzzing from his win at the French Open, it all means that Guillermo Garcia-Lopez could be in for a very long, but ironically brief, day at the office when the pair step out onto centre court later today.
